German sportscar manufacturer Porsche is highly optimistic about 2021 since it managed to keep sales almost flat in 2020 despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the full year 2020, Porsche delivered 272,162 cars across the globe, down by only 3pc compared to 280,800 units in 2019.
In Europe, its deliveries fell by 9pc to 80,892 units last year compared to 88,975 units in 2019, with deliveries in Germany declining by 17pc to 26,152 units in 2020 from 31,618 units in 2019. In North America, the automaker’s deliveries declined by 8pc to 69,629 vehicles in 2020 compared 75,367 vehicles during the same period in 2019. The US saw a 7pc drop in deliveries to 57,294 units compared to 61,568 units in 2019.
However, a 4pc increase in deliveries to Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle East offset the short sales in 2020, tallying 121,641 units against 116,458 units in the 2019. Deliveries in China climbed by 3pc to 88,968 units compared to 86,752 units in 2019.
