Porsche plans to build a high-performance EV battery unit in Germany exclusively for its electric models in a bid to reduce its dependency on Asia for the supply of raw materials, it stated to the media over the weekend.
The company plans to source EV batteries from its parent company Volkswagen in the interim with the latter also mulling setting up battery-making units all over Europe.
Porsche has yet to disclose the location, construction plans, and production forecasts for this new unit, but it has reiterated the need for a plant that can make high-performance batteries for its EV range.
