Exports from Port Hedland, one of the largest iron ore shipping ports in Australia, to China declined by 1pc in September compared to the prior month, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority. 


In September, Port Hedland exported 45.6mn mt of iron ore down slightly from 46mn mt exported in the prior month. Of the total iron ore volumes shipped out of the port in September 39.7mn mt was destined for China, down from 40.2mn mt in August. However, both these numbers were higher than September 2019 by 10pc and 8.5pc, respectively. 


Port Hedland is utilized for iron ore exports by BHP, Fortescue, and Roy Hill, which are among the largest producers of the material in Australia.
