Korean steel giant Posco has entered the Indian two-wheeler fuel tank market by exporting its cold-rolled products to the country in early August, according to Korean media reports.
Posco’s single-sided galvanized steel plates with corrosion resistance and weldability are used as fuel tank material for two-wheeler vehicles. To comply with the new Indian emission guidelines motorcycle manufacturers are using electric galvanized steel plates as raw material for fuel tanks manufacturing.
Taking advantage of this, Posco completed its material and quality certification in about six months and carried out mass-production to supply the product to Indian manufacturers in early August. It also exported the steel plates to Japan.
The company is also eyeing Indonesian and Vietnamese markets, along with India, to expand exports of its products as these countries have a high demand for two-wheeler vehicles.
