Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

South Korea’s Posco is expanding options for industrial construction companies with its INNOVILT product line. The premium construction materials are made wholly with molten iron design instead of welded segments which allow for greater strength, tensile range, and applications due to uniform composition and high level of stability.

The molten process allows for 440 types of customized sizes which enables clients to reduce cost through design. Pos-H, one of the INNOVILT products, can be customized to various sizes and shows a 5.5pc reduction in steel frame usage compared to conventional designs.

Posco will supply 26,000mt of steel plates to the construction of commercial facilities built by Shinsegae Engineering & Construction including 11,000mt of Pos-H. The orders size is the first for the company to exceed 10,000 tons for that product line.

Posco plans to reinforce cooperation with Shinsegae to expand INNOVILT products to interior and exterior materials use and accelerate the adoption of INNOVILT products in the domestic and overseas steel construction materials market.
