Turkey exported 5.06mn mt of rebar in the first 11 months of 2020 compared with 5.20mn mt in the same prior-year period, according to statistical source SteelData.

 

Israel was the key outlet for Turkish longs producers, with shipment to this destination increasing by 4.8pc to 839,000mt in January-November 2020. The next important outlet was Yemen, where Turkey’s rebar exports fell by 1pc to 839,000mt during the period under review.

 

Turkey supplied 384,000mt of rebar to the USA in January-November 2020 compared with 84,000mt in the same 2019 timeframe. Trading between the two countries is gradually reviving, though the total volume is still lower than Turkish mills’ target.

 

Asia is another promising outlet for Turkey. However, while rebar exports to Hong Kong more than doubled to 533,000mt in January-November 2020, they decreased by 60pc to 234,000mt to Singapore.

 

It should be noted that Turkish rebar export surged by 48.8pc to 632,000mt in November 2020 compared to November 2019. Below are the main outlets for Turkish rebar:
