Turkey exported 5.66mn mt of rebar in 2020 compared with 5.67mn mt in 2019, according to statistical source SteelData. Although export sales were sluggish in the first half of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they improved significantly in H2 2020. 

 

Israel was the key outlet for Turkish longs producers, with shipments to this destination increasing by 1.3pc to 912,000mt last year. The next important destination was Yemen, where Turkey’s rebar exports fell by 13.8pc to 862,000mt.

 

Turkey supplied 497,000mt of rebar to the USA during the period under review compared with 106,000mt in 2019 amid trading recovery between the two countries.

 

Asia was another important outlet for Turkey with rebar exports to Hong Kong rising almost three times to 629,000mt in 2020 but decreasing by 50.6pc to 289,000mt to Singapore. Below are the main destinations for Turkish rebar:
