Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Imperial Metals and Newcrest’s joint venture (JV), Red Chris, produced 22.2mn lbs of copper in Q3 (July-September) down almost 16pc from the previous year, according to production details published by Imperial Metals Corporation on Oct 28. Red Chris Mine is in British Columbia, Canada.

Imperial has a stake of 30pc and its share of copper production in Q3 stands at 6.66mn lbs. Newcrest owns the reaming stake of 70pc in the JV.

Metal production dipped in Q3 compared to the prior year due to higher proportion of lower grade material being fed to mills on the back of unseasonal rainfall. Mill throughput has increased by 13pc in the quarter which offset the lower grades and recoveries.

Red Chris has not had any COVID-19 related disruptions to supply chain or any services affecting workforce or operations.

Imperial is a Vancouver exploration, mine development and operating company engaged in copper, gold, lead and zinc mining.
