Vizag Steel’s RINL (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited) rolls out 125x125mm billets for the first time at its Medium Merchant Structural Mill (MMSM).
The steelmaker has modified its roll stands to meet the increasing market demand. Trial operations were successful for IS:2830 grade, however other grades can also be rolled, RINL said in a release.
The larger billet dimension, according to RINL, meets the demands of both domestic and international customers. Previously, MMSM rolled out billets of maximum 90X90mm size.
Another first in India at MMSM was the production of universal beams being rolled out using universal stands which make the product stronger and stiffer, thereby, expanding applications. MMSM has a mill capacity of 1.070mn mt annually.
RINL produces special steel, including billets, wire rod coils, and rounds of different grades and dimensions.
