Indian steelmaker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) plans to start commercial production of forged wheel at its Rae Bareli facility in Uttar Pradesh by the end of 2020, according to media reports.
The company awaits foreign experts to arrive this month to conduct trials before commencement of operations at the plant. The production was earlier scheduled to begin in March-April, but due to COVID-19 related lockdown, it had to be rescheduled.
The plant has an annual production capacity of 100,000 high-speed wheels. RINL looks to provide these wheels to Indian Railways and substitute imports.
