As an addition to Rio Tinto’s ongoing Koodaideri iron ore project, the miner has commissioned a Koodaideri Airport Terminal and Infrastructure at a value of $14mn. For this, Primero Group, which is already working on infrastructure requirements of the project, has been awarded a material contract extension.

The construction delivery of works for the project is likely to completed by 2021.

 

The Koodaideri Project in its first phase will have an annual iron ore throughput rate of 43mn mt. This will be then raised to 70mn mt.  It is situated in the Pilbara region in Western Australia. The project includes the development of a processing plant and associated infrastructure like a 166 km rail line connecting the mine to Rio Tinto Pilbara rail network, airport, and support facilities.

 

In December 2019, Primero Group won a contract valued at $150mn for engineering, procurement, and construction works at Kodaideri Iron ore project.
