Romanian seaports recorded an 8pc increase in freight traffic to 32.11mn mt in the first half of the year compared to 29.73mn mt in the same period of last year, according to the Administration of Maritime Ports Constanta.
Imports cover 10.43mn mt of the total traffic in H1 while exports accounted for 9.35mn mt.
Transit freight amounted to 9.96mn mt of the total and cabotage shipments were at 2.35mn mt during the same period. Of the total freight traffic, 24.24mn mt was for maritime traffic and 7.87mn mt for river traffic.
In H1 2021, grain traffic was at approximately 11mn mt, which is similar to the amount recorded for previous years.
Iron ores, metal products, ores, and non-ferrous scrap metal are some of the commodities that have seen a steady increase within the period.
