Romania’s car production in March 2021 stood at 39,986 units, up by 1.6pc as compared to 39,372 units produced in the previous month (Feb 2021), according to the data released by the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM).

Of the total car output in March, the Dacia plant located in Mioveni produced 24,077 units, registering a growth of 19pc from 20,179 units produced in the preceding month.

The car production in March at Ford’s plant located in Craiova, however, fell by 17.1pc to 15,909 units as compared to 19,193 units produced in the previous month.

 

Q1 2021

In the first quarter of the year (Jan-Mar, 2021), Romania’s car production stood at 117,789 units. Of which, Dacia produced 64,065 units, while Ford produced 53,724 units in the three-month period.

Due to the semiconductor chip shortage across the globe, many auto companies had to cut production in the first three months of the year.
