Steel Authority of India Limited’s (Sail) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has exported over 34,000mt of steel plates to Asian and European countries since beginning of July, as per media reported.
RSP is set to export another 1,000mt of steel plates in September and has received an export order of 10,000mt of plates to the European market. The products have been made in the new plate mill in the unit which has a production capacity of around 1mn mt per annum.
The new mill produces a range of plates used in boilers, vessels, earth moving equipment, wagon, building, railway and urban infrastructure projects, bridges, highways and nuclear power plants.
During April- July period, India exported 181,000mt of steel plates, a surge of 120pc compared to prior year as per JPC under the Ministry of Steel that gathers the data on Indian iron and steel sector. India exported 22pc plates to Spain (40,000mt) followed by UAE (21pc) and Vietnam (14pc).
