Steel Authority of India Limited-owned Rourkela Steel Plant’s (RSP) steel production capacity has recovered in Q2 of the fiscal 2021 (July-September), according to media reports.
The plant produced 967,700mt of hot metal, 922,713mt of crude steel and 865,103mt of saleable steel, up by 17.6pc, 16.1pc and 19.2pc, respectively, from the prior year period. Of the total production, blast furnace-5 produced 219,195mt of steel.
Output of hot-rolled coil and rolling of plates from New Plate Mill reported a growth by 16.6pc and 14.2pc, respectively.
Production of galvanised plain sheet and coil grew by 9.8pc due to a growth in output of electric resistance welded (ERW) pipes and cold rolled non-oriented coil (CRNO) coil by 18.6pc and 35.2pc, respectively.
