Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Rusal has restored its raw materials supply line to its alumina refinery in Achinsk, Siberia.

The Russian aluminum manufacturer said the railway line used to supply material to the refinery had broken down this month because of inclement weather, and that it’s been restored.

The company was negotiating alternate routes with the Russian railways to supply raw materials to the refinery up until June 11, when supply to Achinsk came to a standstill amid the breakdown. On June 7, a segment of the railway line that connects to the Achinsk alumina refinery was damaged after a heavy storm.

Rusal produced 3.8mn mt of aluminum production in 2019, accounting for 5.9pc of global production.
