Rusal plans to invest close to $190mn in restructuring three anode-baking furnaces at its Sayanogorsk Aluminum smelting (SAZ) facility over the next three years.
The Russian aluminum producer plans to modernize the production of electrodes at SAZ through this project. The company will use eco-friendly equipment supplied by Germany’s Reidhammer GmbH, Rusal noted in a press statement, adding that the equipment will also help the company save costs.
Under the new project, the company will install new digital systems in the anode-baking area to transmit operational information of all three furnaces to a unified control panel.
On completion of this modernization project, the firm expects production of fired anodes to increase to meet the increasing demand of its raw material.
