Russian aluminum producer Rusal plans to invest RUB4.5bn ($60.4mn) on modernizing its Sayanogorsk and Khakas aluminium smelter plants. 

 

At the Sayanogorsk smelter, the company will upgrade the anode baking furnaces at the electrode production facility, reducing carbon emissions and improving product quality. The modernization process is expected to be completed by 2023. At its foundry the company plans to allocate RUB 600mn against improvement of the cooling system on two line of homogenization. 

 

Rusal is also purchasing a new casting table paired with new sized crystallizers, which will enable the firm to produce 215mm billets, which are currently in high demand, and subsequently, increase sales.
