The weekly Davis Indexes for HMS 1&2 (80:20) or A3 scrap in Russia’s Baltic Sea and Black Sea regions were flat at $423/mt fob and $430/mt fob, respectively, on Monday due to muted trading.
Russia’s exported ferrous scrap market was quiet last week amid the Kurban Bayrami holidays in Turkey. Importers returned to work on Monday and announced bids at $480/mt cfr for HMS 1&2 (80:20) from St Petersburg and $470/mt cfr for A3 material from Rostov-on-Don, unchanged from the week prior to the holidays.
Negotiations between Russian scrap sellers and Turkish buyers may accelerate during the week with some bookings for August shipment expected in the near term.
Russia’s collection prices remained at previous levels in a subdued export market. The weekly Davis Index for A3 scrap was unchanged at RUB24,750/mt delivered St Petersburg dock and at RUB22,900/mt delivered Rostov-on-Don dock on Monday.
