Russian stainless steel flat product imports in August declined by 28.8pc to 17,190mt from July, according to data provided by Russia’s SpetsStal Association.
Imports of cold-rolled flat products decreased by 30.9pc in August, while hot-rolled flat product imports dropped by 22pc as compared to the prior month.
In August, 111 Russian companies directly imported flat cold-rolled and hot-rolled products from 23 countries.
The top exporter of the products was China with a total share of 42.3pc, followed by South Korea, India, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
Russia’s stainless steel rolled product output in August stood at 7,820mt, up by 7.9pc from July.
Flat-rolled stainless steel product output in August increased by 7.7pc to 2,660mt, while long stainless steel product output grew by 8.1pc to 5,160mt as compared to July.
In the January-August period, Russian produced 57,380mt of stainless steel rolled products, up by 0.4pc from the same period year prior.
The leading Russian stainless steel manufacturer in August was VM Krasny Oktyabr which contributed 37.3pc to the total output, followed by Zlatoust Steel, Chelyabinsk Iron and Steel Works, and then by Izhstal.
