Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Russia’s car sales dropped to 132,640 units in July, down by 6.5pc compared to the prior year, according to data released by Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB).

The auto association had already forecast a sales drop in July compared to July 2020, which was a strong month boosted by pent-up demand after the removal of lockdown that year.

From Jan-July, around 953,760 cars were sold, up by 28.4pc than the prior-year period.

The next few months will show drops in car sales on a year-over-year basis, stated AEB, owing to the productions cuts globally due to the shortage of semiconductors. AEB noted the short supply of chips has widened.
