Russia’s Novorossiysk Rolling Plant (NPZ) purchased a new wire rod mill plant from Danieli for the Shakhty, Rostov Region. The plant is anticipated for commission in early 2023.

The new unit will be constructed in the countryside with a 600,000mt annual capacity and is estimated to produce smooth rounds in diameter of 5.5-16mm and rebar from 6-12mm in coils. The factory’s design is taking account organic growth with the application of a billet-welding machine and a spooler line.

A 120mt per hour walking-beam reheating furnace will disseminate the billets to the mill at the needed temperature for rolling. The mill’s main components include 16-star housingless stands (SHS) plus two ESS energy-saving systems (ESS) cantilever stands, a 10-pass finishing block, an advanced water-cooled line, a long cooling conveyor, and an oil-film bearing system.

In March 2019, NPZ requisitioned a new 500,000mt annual capacity H3 wire rod mill from Danieli for a plant in the Krasnodar region placed in operation in 2020. The mill rolls 150 x 150 billets into wire rod and deformed wire rod in coils.
