Pig iron export from Russia fell in January-September 2020 due to rising domestic demand for the material.

 

Russia exported 2.929mn mt of pig iron through the nine months of this year, down by 15pc compared with the same period in 2019, according to the Russian customs data. However, export of the material increased by 12pc in September to 478,000mt. The main destinations were China and the USA, according to Davis Index.

 

Pig iron output in Russia rose by 5pc to 39.93mn mt during the period under review, according to worldsteel. The country is the fourth largest pig iron producer after China, India, and Japan.
