Russia’s pig iron exports decreased in the first seven months of the year amid higher domestic consumption of the material. The trend is expected to persist until the end of this year.

 

The country exported 2.02mn mt of pig iron through January-July, decreasing by 23pc compared to the same period in 2019, according to Russian customs. In July, the material’s export dropped by 57pc to 282,000mt.

 

Pig iron production in Russia rose by 4pc to 30.73mn mt during the period under review, according to worldsteel. The country remained the 4th largest producer in the world after China, India, and Japan.
