Russian seamless stainless steel pipe imports in August declined by 19.8pc to 1,340mt from July, according to data provided by Russia’s SpetsStal Association. Imports of cold-formed pipes fell by 47.7pc, while hot-formed pipe imports decreased by 98pc.
The country’s overall stainless steel imports in August stood at 18,000mt, down by 30pc from July, as per Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (USSA).
Russia’s stainless steel output in August grew by 9.8pc to 18,000mt from July and by 19.3pc from the same month year prior.
In January-August period, the country’s stainless steel production rose by 4.4pc to 90,000mt as compared to the prior-year period.
The association stated that the Russian stainless steel market remained stable in August as there was a strong demand from several sectors like nuclear, power, shipbuilding, defense, oil, and gas sectors.
