Russia’s stainless steel imports declined by 3pc during January-June 2021 to 153,984mt from 158,352mt in the same months in 2020, according to the Customs data.
May imports increased by 30pc to 37,962mt from 29,170mt in the same month last year while they rose by 20pc from 31,700mt in April this year.
The highest imports were from China with a 48pc rise to 21,667mt in May 2021 compared to 14,598mt last year a corresponding 52pc climb from 14,300mt this April.
India was the second-largest exporter to Russia in terms of volume with a 75pc increase this May to 4,906mt from 2,808mt annually but there was a 30pc drop from 7,041mt in April 2021.
Russia’s stainless steel imports from Indonesia rose by 87pc in May to 2,900mt compared to 1,549mt in the same month last year and surged by 103pc from 1,429mt in April.
