Russia’s stainless steel imports in December 2020 increased by 7.8pc to 35,650mt from November, however, it fell by 7.3pc as compared to the same month in 2019, according to data provided by Russia’s SpetsStal Association.

 

The country’s cold-rolled flat stainless steel product imports in December grew by 9.1pc, while long stainless steel product and electric-welded stainless steel pipe imports rose by 73.5pc and 44.3pc, respectively.

 

In the same month, stainless steel wire imports increased by 57.3pc, while imports of stainless steel seamless pipes and stainless steel primary billets grew by 21.9pc and 2.9pc, respectively. Imports of hot-rolled stainless steel products fell by 34.1pc in December 2020.

 

In December, around 260 Russian companies directly imported stainless steel products worth $87.79mn from 31 countries across the globe.

 

The top stainless steel supplier to Russia in December was China, supplying 44.7pc of the total imports followed by India (15.3pc), Taiwan (10.3pc), Ukraine, (5.5pc), Indonesia (4.2pc), Slovenia (3.8pc), and South Korea (3.7pc).
