Russia’s total stainless steel production in 2020 stood at 140,300mt, up by 2.7pc as compared to the previous year, according to data provided by Russia’s SpetsStal Association.
Of total stainless steel product output, long stainless steel products output in 2020 grew by 5.3pc, and production of electric-welded stainless steel pipes rose by 14pc, while stainless steel forgings and stainless steel wire production increased by 12.9pc and 23.3pc, respectively.
The production of hot-rolled flat stainless steel products output in 2020 fell by 2pc, while seamless stainless steel pipes declined by 2.6pc. In the same period, stainless steel billets and cold-rolled flat stainless steel products decreased by 12.9pc and 11.2pc, respectively.
Russia smelted 107,200mt of stainless steel products in 2020, registering a growth of 1.3pc, of which 92,800mt of products were produced from domestic stainless steel.
Among the leading manufacturer, the VMK Krasny Oktyabr plant increased the production of stainless steel rolled products in 2020 and accounted for 36.7pc of the total production of primary products.
Stainless steel products made from foreign billets, including electric-welded and seamless pipes, plates, and wire, increased by 5pc in 2020, attributing 33.8pc to the total production.
