Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia rose by 24.3pc tp 515,934 units in the first four months of 2021 compared to 415,102 units in January-April 2020, according to the Association of European Business (AEB).
The country’s vehicle sales almost tripled to 151,964 vehicles in April 2021 compared to the same month last year.
Russian carmaker Avtovaz (Lada) led the sales growth in April at a 304pc increase to 37,931 units compared to 9,296 units in April 2020. It was followed by Kia with a 341pc increase in sales to 19,101 units from 4,334 units in the same timeframe.
AEB expects vehicle sales in Russia to grow by 2.1pc in 2021 against last year, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
