Indian state-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited’s (Sail) Bhilai unit produced 54,313mt in June, surpassing its earlier monthly production record of 16,165mt last year. This record production was achieved from its Modex unit bar and rod mill, tweeted the company. 

 

Modex’s quarterly production was at 147,106mt in the April-June quarter. 

 

The Delhi-based company’s Bhilai plant recorded monthly saleable steel production of 370,469mt in June which surpassed its previous record of 365,910mt in June 2013.

 

The company’s BRM mill in Bhilai has the bandwidth to produce high carbon steel, spring steel, bearish steel, electrode quality, free cutting quality steel, cold headed steel, low alloy steel, and forging quality steel round along with sections of different dimensions from 5.5mm wire rod coil to 60mm rounds and rebar ranging from 6mm to 40mm.

 

Sail’s crude steel production and sales were at 15.21mn mt and 14.93mn mt, respectively in FY2021.

 

Primary mills’ rebar prices were around Rs49,500-50,000/mt ($665-671/mt) ex- Mumbai in projects segments.
