Steel Authority of India  (Sail) plans to produce head hardened (HH) rails in the fiscal 2021 at its new Universal Rail Mill (URM), said media reports.

The company has set up facilities for the production of HH rails at URM in Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), Chhattisgarh. The commissioning of facility was earlier delayed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Cold trials for the project have been completed, according to the local media.

In July, Davis Index reported that Sail had rolled out its first rake of vanadium alloyed special grade rails, R260 for the Indian Railways.
