Steel Authority of India Limited (Sail)-owned bar and rod mill at Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has recorded its highest ever production in April-Nov period and reached 197,893mt in 2020, according to the company’s tweet.

 

The bar and rod mill has also achieved its highest monthly production of 37,976mt in November. The mill’s output on December 13 hit the highest ever daily tally, producing 2,029mt of TMT bars. The mill had previously achieved a record output of 1,858mt on August 14.

 

The four blast furnaces at the Bhilai unit are producing an average of 15,375mt of hot metal daily. 

 

In FY 2019-20, Sail had launched its new brand of TMT bars titled ‘SAIL SeQR’ proclaimed to be safer with a combination of high strength and better ductility. The company is focussing on the real estate sector through the retail market channel and plans to boost the sales of long products.

 

Sail BRM Mill in Bhilai can produce high carbon steel, spring steel, and bearish steel, electrode quality, free cutting quality steel, cold headed steel, low alloy steel, forging quality steel rounds. It can produce a variety of sections of different dimensions, including 5.5mm wire rod coil to 60mm rounds, and TMT ranges from 6mm to 40mm.

 

Sail’s crude steel production and sales were at 16.15mn mt and 14.5mn mt, respectively, in FY2020.
