State-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (Sail) reported steel exports of 0.3mn mt in June 2020, highest ever volume in a single month. The company’s sales volumes rose by 18pc to 1.2mn mt from June 2019, according to media reports.

 

In June, Sail has also sold 42,000mt of pig iron. Additionally, it dispatched R 260 special grade rails for the Indian Railways in the same month. Sales and exports figures indicate a gradual revival of Indian economy after a prolonged economic disruption due to COVID-19.

 

The company looks to boost production capacities to cater to the evolving overseas requirements, Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Sail chairman, said, cited by media reports.
