Indian mining company Sandur Manganese and Iron Ore has commenced operations at the 0.4mn mt coke oven plant and Ferro alloy furnaces from January 18 in the Hospet- Bellary region of Karnataka.
The company had laid the foundation stone for Phase 1 of 1mn mt of Iron and Steel project including setting up of 0.4mn mt coke oven plant, waste heat recovery boilers and a 0.4mn mt pig iron blast furnace at Vysanakere, Hosapete in March, 2018.
Trials from batteries 1 & 2 of the coke oven plant began in January 2020, new 24 MVA Ferro Alloy furnace in February 2020, batteries 3 & 4 of coke oven plant in November 2020 and for the refurbished 20 MVA Ferro Alloy furnace from January18 this year.
Accordingly, the Lenders’ Engineers visited the plant on Wednesday and are expected to issue a certificate regarding completion of the Project and declaration of the commercial operations. Performance Guarantee Tests will be taken up soon.
