Canada-based miner Santacruz Silver’s Q2 lead and zinc production increased from the previous year but dropped compared to the prior quarter. In April-June period, 761mt of lead was produced, up by 96pc from the prior year and down 30pc from the previous quarter. Zinc production in Q2 stood at 2,199mt, up 132pc from Q2 2019 and down 23pc from the prior quarter. Copper production dipped by 30pc from the prior quarter to 308mt in Q2. Copper was not produced in the previous year.

Production was primarily impacted due to COVID-19 and the suspension of mining operations. At Zimapan Mine operations were suspended for a total of 42 days in Q2. 

 

Metal prices also dipped in 2020 with lead at $0.92/lb from $0.94/lb in 2019, zinc at $1.09/lb from 1.20/lb in 2019 and copper in 2020 is at $2.80/lb from $2.92/lb in 2019.
