Japan’s demand for secondary aluminium declined in November 2019, on decreased consumption from the auto sector, according to the Japan aluminium alloy refiners association.
The demand for secondary aluminium and alloys dropped by 9pc to 67,131mt from the prior year, with a decreased production of die-casts and castings by 13pc to 36,027mt and by 6pc to 17,770mt, respectively, from the year prior.
The lower demand was driven by a weaker car production, which went down by 9pc to 767,000mt.
The imports for ADC12 also dropped in the Jan-Nov 2019 period by 8pc to 1.1mn mt from the prior year.
