Specialty vehicle manufacturing and assembly company The Shyft Group has purchased F3 MFG Inc, a Maine-based aluminum truck body manufacturer.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in 2021, Shyft said in a press release on Oct 1, without disclosing the value of the transaction.

Shyft has recently increased its focus on the automotive body-making segment with the F3 acquisition following the purchase of Royal Truck Body, a steel vehicle body maker based in Southwestern USA last year.

According to Shyft, F3’s operations at its 140,000 sq ft plant in Maine include finishing, assembly, and installation of van bodies and cab protection racks. The facility also manufactures aluminum for these products. F3’s sales revenue in 2019 stood at $25mn.

The Shyft Group is a specialty vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and upfit company for commercial vehicles. Headquartered in Michigan, Shyft has facilities in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Saltillo, Mexico. The company posted sales revenue of $757mn in 2019.
