Spanish specialty steel producer, Sidenor, has entered into a power supply agreement with national utilities company, Naturgy, according to a company announcement on Mar 10.
The supply agreement stipulates Naturgy will supply Sidenor’s specialty steel production facilities with electricity generated from renewable sources for a period of 10 years.
Naturgy will generate the 350GWh per annum required under the power purchase agreement (PPA) from renewable, solar, and wind sources.
Sidenor has the capacity to produce 1mn mt of special and stainless-steel long products used in automotive, machinery, railway, energy, mining, and petrochemical industries.
It has production centres in the Basque Country, Cantabria, and Catalonia and has commercial representation in Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
