Algeria-based steel industrial unit Sider El-Hadjar Complex’s blast furnace No. 2 resumed operations after being idle for nearly six months, according to media reports.
The blast furnace was shut down since March as part of the preventive measures taken against the Coronavirus pandemic.
During this period, semi-finished product units and marketing units from the Sider El Hadjar complex remained operational.
The operations at the complex resumed following orders of the Algerian Government to revive economic activity in the mega industrial unit and to give a boost to the steel industry in the country.
The company expects 600,000mt output for the current year which could increase to 700,000mt in 2021 and reach 1mn mt by 2023 to meet market demand.
