Sierra Metals has received a permit from the Peruvian ministry to construct and operate its Yauricocha copper mine at a production capacity of 3,600mt per day.
The Informe Tecnico Minero Permit (ITM) will help the miner increase its total production by 20pc, Sierra Metals noted in a statement on Wednesday.
Sierra Metals plans to increase its copper throughput to 5,500mt per day by 2024 and is also focusing on improving and modernizing its mine operations to increase productivity.
In 2020, the company produced close to 34,000mt of copper at the Yauricocha Mine which accounted for 60pc of the company’s total revenue.
