Global electronic scrap recycler Sims Lifecycle Services recently announced the opening of its Tampa Innovation Center, which will focus on reusing and recycling data center materials, like laptops.
Sims recently increased its IT asset disposition operations, processing more than 27,000nt (24,494mt) of such equipment in 2019. The plant intends to maximize the use of retired gadgets and resell them into smaller markets, where demand for such refurbished goods is strong.
The 40,000 sq-ft facility in Tampa, Fla, is expected to process 25,000 units of data storage and networking material a month, and it’s slated to be commissioned by November, said Sean Magann, Sims’ global vice president of sales and marketing.
