South Korea imported 84,630mt of aluminium scrap in July 2020, up by 15.24pc from 73,438mt from the prior-year period. 

 

In July, aluminium scrap imports from the US rose to 25,647mt from 25,066mt in the prior year. South Korea imported 10,344mt of aluminium scrap from Japan, up from 7,115mt in July 2019 and 5,433mt of aluminium scrap from Thailand, down from 7,411mt in July 2019.

 

In Jan-July 2020, South Korea imported 559,774 aluminium scrap, up from 501,199mt from the prior-year period. South Korea imported 169,409mt from the US, up from 151,585mt in the prior-year period. South Korea imported 73,568mt from Japan, up from 55,786mt from the prior-year period. South Korea imported 51,525mt of aluminium scrap from Thailand, down from 56,715mt in Jan-July 2019.

 

On the export side, South Korean aluminium alloys export rose by 21.76pc to 52,022mt from 42,723mt in July 2019. Of this, exports to China rose to 11,807mt from 5,978mt in July 2019; while exports to Vietnam increased to 10,299mt from 7,815mt in July 2019 and 3,598mt to Spain, up from 2,005mt in July 2019.
