South Korean ferrous scrap imports in July were at 462,729mt, an increase of 48.96pc (152,109mt) from 310,620mt in the prior-year period. 

 

South Korea ferrous scrap imports from Japan increased by 42pc in July to 284,193mt from 200,180mt in the prior-year period and declined by 6pc from 303,750mt in June. 

 

Scrap imports from the US increased by 608pc during the same period to 79,617mt from 11,245mt in July 2020 and increased by 106pc from 38,634mt in the prior month. 

 

South Korea imported 51,622mt of ferrous scrap in July, an increase of 5pc from 49,027mt in the prior-year period and an increase of 23pc from 41,851mt in June.

Aluminium scrap import

Aluminium scrap imports in July this year, declined by 2.54pc (2,157mt) to 82,460mt from 84,617mt. 

 

South Korean Aluminium scrap imports from the US fell by 33pc to 17,000mt in July from 25,388mt in July 2020, aluminium scrap imports also declined by 6pc from 18,002mt in June this year.

 

Aluminium scrap imports from Thailand increased by 60pc in July to 8,706mt from 5,434mt in the prior-year period but declined by 4pc from 9,027mt in the prior month. 

 

Scrap imports from Japan decreased by 21pc in the same period to 8,182mt from 10,321mt in July 2020 and declined by 13pc from 9,351mt in June, this year.

Copper Scrap Import

Total copper scrap imports in July increased by 15.35pc (4,442mt) to 28,920mt from 24,478mt in July 2020. 

South Korean July copper scrap imports from the US increased by 17pc to 6,174mt from 5,256mt in the prior-year period and 5,254mt in the prior month.

 

Copper scrap imports from Saudi Arabia increased by 217pc to 2,905mt from 915mt in July 2020 and increased by 22pc from 2,386mt in June, this year.
