South32 has rescinded the guidance for its South African and Colombian operations, but not only did its alumina production rise by 4pc in Q3 2020, its year-to-date output at Brazil Alumina also set a record during this period.

 

In Q3 FY2020, the company produced 1,276kt (1.3mn mt) of alumina, rising slightly over 1,201kt during the same quarter last year. Through the first three quarters of its current financial year, South32’s alumina output increased by 4pc to 3,911kt from 3,743kt during the same period in FY 2019. 

 

Aluminum production reached 245kt in Q3 FY2020, increasing slightly over the 242kt produced during Q3 FY2019. Through the first three quarters of FY2020, South32’s aluminum output was 1pc higher than the same period last year, rising to 741kt from 737kt.

 

The firm’s payable nickel production in Q3 FY2020 reached 10.3kt, increasing from 9.4kt a year ago, while its year-to-date output rose by 1pc to 30.9kt from 30.5kt.

 

South32 produced 25kt of payable lead in Q3 FY2020, increasing marginally from 24.8kt produced during the same quarter during FY2019. Through the first three quarters of the company’s financial year, its lead production increased by 10pc to 80.3kt from 73.1kt during the same period of FY 2019.

 

The firm achieved zinc production of 17.3kt in Q3 FY2020, substantially increasing from 10.7kt in Q3 FY2019. Through the first three quarters of this year, the firm has produced 49.8kt, a 35pc rise from 37kt during the same comparable period during FY2019.

 

South32 reported its net cash declined to $150mn in Q3 FY2020 from $277mn during the same quarter last year.
