Swiss train maker Stadler has received an order to supply 40 trains to Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) in Valencia, Italy over a period of eight years.
Each electric train will consist of three aluminum coaches which will reduce the weight of the vehicle as well as electricity consumption, Stadler indicated in a press release on Mar 23.
Under the agreement, Stadler will first supply 23 vehicles which will be used to replace the older trains on the Vesuvian line operated by the EAV. The agreement also includes a full-service maintenance contract for the trains over five years after they are commissioned by EAV.
