Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

European carmaker Stellantis and Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Tech (Foxconn) have announced an equal rights partnership to form Mobile Drive an AI-based solution for cars.

The joint venture (JV) will combine Stellantis’ car design with Foxconn’s smartphone and consumer electronics software and hardware to develop digital car cockpits and personalized connected services.

Both companies will have equal voting rights and investment proportions. Foxconn will operate the venture through its subsidiary FIH Mobile. Neither Stellantis nor Foxconn have disclosed roll-out plans or production dates.

Foxconn is a major supplier to Apple and recently partnered with America’s Fisker to design electric vehicles (EVs). Stellantis specializes in EVs and plans to triple its production in 2021 to 400,000 units worldwide.
