SCM Minera Lumina Copper Chile (MLCC) has reached an agreement with workers at the Caserones copper mine to end a four-week-long strike. The company and the Lumina Union agreed to a three-year labour contract on Sept 4.

 

The wage deal concluded after 98pc of the union members approved the last offer presented by the company’s management.

 

SCM Minera Lumina Copper Chile (MLCC) is owned by the Japanese company JX Nippon Mining and Metals.

 

MLCC operates the Caserones mine which is located in the Atacama Region. The mine has a production capacity of 110,000-150,000mt copper concentrate and 30,000mmt cathodes. In 2020, the mine produced 126,972mt copper.
