Subaru has suspended production at its Indiana plant until the end of April due to the ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips.

The plant expects close to 15,000 vehicle production to be affected in North America during this shutdown, according to media reports on Tuesday.

The Japanese carmaker recently announced a temporary halt of production at its Yajima plant in Japan for the same reason. The company’s US subsidiary–Subaru of America’s Q1 sales increased by 23pc, but the current halt may affect the volumes available for sale in the second quarter.
