Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Taishan Iron and Steel Group’s Shandong Taijia plant started production at its newly installed 300,000mt annual capacity cold-rolled annealing and pickling line. Production started with the roll off its first 304 4-feet cold-rolled coil with a thickness of 1.2mm. This completes Shandong Taigang’s stainless steel making process from steel production to hot-rolling and cold rolling.

Earlier, Shandong Taijia’s 1450mm 20-high reversible cold rolling mill was put into operation in August. The 300,000mt cold-rolled annealing and pickling line will extend the company’s products mix from hard-rolled coils to cold-rolled 2B. These cold-rolled projects are part of the company’s 800,000mt capacity expansion plan. The commissioning of cold rolling capacity fills the gap in Shandong Taijia’s non-high-end stainless steel cold rolled products portfolio.

Shandong Taijia will mainly produce 2B, 2D, No. 3, No. 4, HL and other models in the 300 (austenite) and 400 series (martensite, ferrite) products.
