Around 32 steel companies in Tangshan, China have planned to cut output in June under the city’s air quality enhancement guarantee plan, states China Metallurgical News.
Of these 32, 10 plants will reduce production by 20pc, 10 others by 30pc. Two plants Tang Steel and Tanyin will close down by the end of June, while 10 more steelmakers will curb output by 50pc.
The list of steel companies has been chalked out based on performance evaluations. Grade A and B companies will not have mandates to reduce emissions. Grade C steelmakers, however, will have to undertake emission reduction measures.
